Same-Day Porcelain/Ceramic Crowns and Inlays

CEREC Same Day Porcelain / Ceramic Crowns and Inlays

Have you ever received a dental crown? If so, you likely remember it was not the most convenient procedure. Multiple appointments due to lab time needed, messy mouthful of gooey impression material for physical impressions, and temporary crowns that have a chance of falling off before the permanent one was delivered were all required. For patients in the Vista, California area looking for a more convenient option, CEREC Ceramic restorations are just that! Now available at Dreamtime dentistry. We will prepare the tooth for crown or similar restoration, scan preparation with our PrimeScan laser intraoral scanner, use computer-aided design to design the perfect restoration, then use our PrimeMill to mill the restoration from ceramic block and then quickfire the restoration in oven to be ready to be delivered the same day. If you are looking for a same-day solution, CEREC restorations offered by Dr. Ryan Watkins and the team at Dreamtime Dentistry are a great alternative. Whether you need a dental crown or an inlay, CEREC makes the process more convenient for you!

The placement of dental crowns and inlays is a very common procedure performed by dentists all over the world. The reason is that they are a highly effective solution for treating a wide range of dental problems. These restorations are able to protect teeth that have been weakened by decay or other damage, and dental crowns can conceal several cosmetic imperfections. They do an excellent job of completing your smile and keeping it healthy.

However, with traditional crowns, you are looking at a two-week process (at minimum) which involves multiple appointments as your crown is crafted at an off-site lab. While you wait, you will be left wearing a temporary crown. These can sometimes be poorly fit and uncomfortable. CEREC same-day dental crowns avoid all of these inconveniences.

The Advantages of CEREC Same Day Restorations

There is a reason dentists like Dr. Watkins are adopting CEREC technology. Here are some of the advantages you will be able to take advantage of when choosing CEREC.

Convenience: With CEREC, there is no need for multiple appointments. CEREC technology uses CAD/CAM technology to craft your new dental crown right here in our office. Hence, you will only need a single appointment.

No Physical Impressions: With CEREC, we are able to utilize leading-edge digital imaging technology. We will scan digital images of your teeth with the CEREC PrimeScan intraoral scanner, which are sent into the CEREC system, where a digital, three-dimensional impression will be created. This impression will be used to craft your new restoration from a block of porcelain right here at our office using the CEREC PrimeMill milling machine.

No Temporaries Necessary: Because CEREC allows us to craft crowns and inlays here in our office, there is never a need for a temporary restoration while you wait for your permanent solution to be crafted at an off-site lab. You receive yours within a single appointment, meaning no temporary remedies are needed.

The CEREC Procedure

When you visit us for a CEREC same-day restoration, you can expect a three-step process:

  • We will apply an anesthetic so that the tooth is numbed. After this numbing has been completed, we will prepare the tooth that requires restoration, after which your mouth will be scanned, and a digital impression created
  • Using CEREC CAD/CAM technology, the specialized computer software will take in your digital scans and create a complete model of your new restoration, which will be custom crafted for your teeth and mouth
  • Design specifications will be created and sent to our on-site milling machine, where your restoration will be crafted with amazing accuracy. Once completed, we will place your restoration, making any necessary adjustments, before bonding it to your tooth

We hope to see you soon at Dreamtime Dentistry. If you have questions about CEREC same-day restorations or wish to make an appointment, please call our Vista, CA office today at (760) 274-0993.
